It is our great honor and privilege to invite you to the 39th Annual Congress of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (EACTAIC). The Congress will take place in the beautiful and sustainable green city of Freiburg, Germany, on 23rd to 25th October 2024.
The leading theme of EACTAIC 2024 Annual Congress enhances the importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in modern medicine. The pandemic has taught us the importance of recognition of significant diverse communities and advantages of having a DEI workforce for patient comfort and improved treatment. A dedicated session will discuss the specific benefits and strategies to promote DEI and negative repercussions, if any, affecting our specialty.
As cardiothoracic and vascular Anesthesiologists and Intensivists, we play a key bounding role in perioperative medicine orchestrating collaboration with different specialties and healthcare professionals. Therefore, as we stand in crossroads of “hybrid approach” to anesthesia, there will be collaborative sessions with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, perfusion specialists and operating room nurses. These sessions will highlight the importance of the high competency of anesthesiologists in coordinating tailored approach to cardiovascular medicine and advancement of patient care.
This year´s program also highlights the need of wellbeing and resilience in stressful operating room and intensive care units and methods to prevent burnout.
Lastly, leadership at different levels of clinical practice, from early career to advanced level practitioners highlights the career development pathway making it a complete justification to attend a conference of highest scientific, research and quality education.

Certificates of attendance can be downloaded from the congress APP at the end of the congress.
Each participant can only receive the number of credits he/she is entitled to according to his/her actual participation at the event once he/she has completed the feedback form. Cf. criteria 22 of UEMS 2023.07.

The EACCME® awards ECMEC®s on the basis of 0,5 ECMEC® for 30 minutes of CME with a maximum of 8 ECMEC®s per day. Cf. Chapter XIII of UEMS 2023.07.
The 39th EACTAIC Annual Congress 2024 “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion”, Freiburg, Germany, 23/10/2024 - 25/10/2024, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 16.0 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that they spent in the educational activity.
Through an agreement between the Union Europeenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at https://edhub.ama-assn.org/pages/applications Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
The official language of the Meeting is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.
Participants are entitled to complimentary coffee breaks and box lunches on October 23, 24, and 25 as part of the registration fee. To collect your box lunch, please present the daily coupon provided with your badge. Each day requires a different coupon.
The official congress dinner will take place on Thursday, October 24, at the unique Schlossbergrestaurant Dattler. Don’t miss the chance to network with colleagues and opinion leaders by reserving your spot and purchasing a ticket in advance. Tickets are subject to availability.
A Digital Poster Area will be set up in the Exhibition Hall, where all E-posters may be viewed at any time during the conference days.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the supplement of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia, available for download starting from the first congress day.
Smoking in the meeting area is not allowed.
Delegates are kindly requested to set their mobile phones on silent mode in the rooms and spaces where scientific sessions are being held.
The organizers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances. Please check the website or the official APP for regular updates. The organizers reserve the right to cancel, postpone, relocate, or change any of the sessions or to add new sessions.
In the unlikely event that the EACTAIC 2024 Annual Meeting cannot be held, in whole or in part, due to circumstances beyond the Organisers’ control or force majeure (including riot, fire, explosion, accident, flood, earthquake, sabotage, strikes, governmental actions, etc.), the Congress Organisers cannot be held liable for any damage, cost, or loss incurred. This includes registration fees, transportation and accommodation costs, or any other direct or indirect loss or consequential damage.
The congress organizers cannot accept liability for personal injuries or for loss of or damage to property belonging to congress participants, whether during the congress or as a result of it. Therefore, we recommend that you ensure the validity of your own insurance coverage.
NOTE: Registration is compulsory in order to present an abstract during the Meeting.
The final selection of abstracts will be made by the Scientific Committee by July 10, 2024. All corresponding authors will then be notified of the outcome (accepted or not accepted) of the review process.
Please ensure that the email provided during abstract submission is accurate, as all correspondence will be sent via email.
Please be informed that the scientific program of the congress, including the list of all abstracts and related presenting authors, will be submitted to AIFA (Italian Ministry of Health) for a pre-request of authorization.
Submitted abstracts cannot be withdrawn, and no changes to the titles or authors will be allowed.

Online registrations for in-person attendance will be accepted until October 13, after this date it will be possible to register directly on-site in Freiburg.
At the end of the registration process online, a preliminary confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address provided.
Once the payment has been received, the invoice will be issued as final confirmation of your registration.
Participation letter with barcode/credentials will be sent few days before the congress. You will need it to access the meeting.
Registration fees are in euros (EUR) and include 19% German VAT.
Payments must be made in euros, by credit card or bank transfer (no cash payments are accepted).

After August 28, 2024 name changes will be charged a handling fee of € 100,00 (VAT included) per name. A new online registration for each replacement will be required before the name change can be processed.
Notification of cancellation must be sent in writing to AIM GROUP INTERNATIONAL.
Cancellations will be accepted until September 13, 2024, with a refund of all prepaid fees except for a 30% administration charge.
No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date.
