Practical Day

Attendees will be divided into groups to join the stations sequentially. It depends on how many registrations we will have, but thinking about 98-112 delegates, we can devide them into 14 groups of each 7-8 delegates. 25 minutes per workshop and a 5 min time for rotation delivers the table given below. There will be two practical courses (morning and afternoon), so as to have 7 or 8 * 8 = 49 -56 attendees twice. Maximum number will be 112 attendees.

Simulation based on the suggestion having 98 - 112 delegates into 16 groups over 25-minute rotations over the seven WS (7-8 delegates in each group).

WS 1. ECMO set-up, configurations, function, monitoring.

(Contents & summary: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can provide short term circulatory support for acute heart failure or post cardiotomy cardiogenic shock. ECMO has also played a major part in H1N1 and COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, ECMO pushes the boundaries of what we know about physiology, pathology and pharmacology)

(Contents & summary: We will focus on interpreting and hands-on managing ECMO flow and pressures (P1, P2, P3) on a Cardiohelp-devices. Emphasis will be given to interaction. The time for the working station is 25 min. during this working station, clinical scenarios in which ECMO troubleshooting cases will be analyzed will be presented)

WS 4. Wetlab: LVAD implantation.

WS 5. Demo HMIII LVAD simulation station.

(Contents & summary: The station will include two HM3 demo pumps, monitors and power modules of the HM3, provided by Abbott. The simulation will cover most of the clinical situations, such as HM3 parameter fluctuations at different time points we are facing everyday with our patients clinical scenarios and:
 - starting and managing the device at the OR
 - immediate postoperative period in the ICU, troubleshooting postoperative issues (low flow alarms, hypovolemia and fluid management, RV dysfunction, tamponade)
 - at the Ward and after hospital discharge: fluid management, hypertension, low flow, PI events, outflow graft twist, arrhythmias, suspected pump thrombosis)

WS 6. PBL discussion: LV and RV haemodynamics in LVAD implantation

Cancellations will be accepted until October 21 2022 with a refund of all prepaid fees except for a 15% administrative charge. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date. All approved refunds will be processed and issued 60 days after the Congress.
